Telehealth

Telehealth terminal at PGH

Telehealth uses videoconferencing and supporting technologies to put patients in touch with health professionals across distances. It is especially useful in remote areas where patients have to travel long distances to meet health professionals.

  • reduces the travel burden, particularly for elderly people and those with young children
  • provides access to a wider range of specialist advice and services
  • deliver faster, more efficient health care by using technology to remove the distance barrier

Interior Health is a telehealth leader and was an early adopter of the technology, which has helped increase timely access to high quality services for patients across our health authority

The PGH telehealth terminal pictured above offers capacity for two-way, live videoconferencing, clinical, administrative and health related educational encounters. This technology is part of B.C.'s eHealth program. The British Columbia Ministry of Health charactizes eHealth as Faster, safer, better healthcare. Read more here. If you have questions about how to access this service at PGH, you can call them at 250-295-3233 or ask your doctor.
